Planting Instructions (from a 3.5" pot)
- Timing: Plant after the last frost when the soil has warmed to at least 70°F (21°C).
- Location: Choose a location with partial to full shade.
- Soil Preparation: Prepare well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Amend with compost if necessary.
- Planting Depth: Dig a hole slightly larger than the pot. The top of the root ball should be level with or slightly above the soil surface.
- Spacing: Space plants about 12-18 inches apart to allow for adequate growth and air circulation.
- Planting:
- Gently remove the plant from the pot, being careful not to damage the roots.
- Place the plant in the hole and fill in with soil, pressing gently to eliminate air pockets.
- Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.
- Mulching: Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
- Care:
- Fertilize monthly with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season.
- Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth.
- Monitor for pests and treat as necessary.
