Planting Instructions (From Bulb into the Ground)
Plant tuberose bulbs in spring after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
1. Choose the Location
- Select a sunny, warm site with excellent drainage.
- Ideal for borders, cutting gardens, or containers.
2. Prepare the Soil
- Loosen soil 8–10 inches deep.
- Mix in compost or sand if soil is heavy—drainage is critical.
3. Planting Depth & Spacing
- Plant bulbs 2–3 inches deep with the pointed end facing up.
- Space bulbs 6–8 inches apart.
4. Watering
- Water thoroughly after planting.
- Keep soil evenly moist during active growth, but avoid soggy conditions.
5. Growth Tip
- Tuberose prefers warm soil—growth may be slow at first but speeds up in heat.
- A light monthly feeding during the growing season can encourage more blooms.
Overwintering ‘Pink Parfait’ Tuberose
Tuberose is not frost hardy and must be protected in colder climates.
In-Ground (Zones 8–11)
- After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally.
- Reduce watering during dormancy.
- Apply a light mulch layer for winter protection in cooler parts of Zone 8.
In Zones 3–7 (Lift and Store Bulbs)
- After First Frost: Foliage will yellow and die back.
- Dig Bulbs: Carefully lift bulbs from soil.
- Clean & Dry: Brush off soil and allow bulbs to dry for several days in a warm, airy space.
-
Store:
- Place in a box with peat moss or dry sawdust
- Store in a cool, dry location (50–60°F)
- Check Occasionally: Discard any soft or rotting bulbs.
‘Pink Parfait’ Tuberose is a standout for fragrance lovers, offering elegant blooms and unforgettable scent throughout the summer. With proper planting and winter care, it can be enjoyed year after year as a garden and cut-flower favorite.
