Planting Instructions (From a 3.5" Pot into the Ground)

Ferns transplant easily when given consistent moisture and good soil preparation.

1. Choose the Location

Select a spot with dappled shade or full shade.
Avoid harsh afternoon sun.

2. Prepare the Soil

Loosen soil 8–12 inches deep.
Mix in compost, leaf mold, or organic matter to improve drainage and moisture retention.
Soil should be rich, slightly acidic, and well-drained.

3. Dig the Hole

Dig a hole twice as wide as the 3.5" pot.
Depth should allow the crown to sit level with the surrounding soil.

4. Remove from Pot

Gently loosen the plant from the container.
Tease apart roots if tightly bound.

5. Plant

Place in the hole and backfill with amended soil.
Firm gently to eliminate air pockets.

6. Water Thoroughly

Water deeply after planting.
Keep soil consistently moist during the first growing season.

7. Mulch

Apply 2–3 inches of organic mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
