‘Chartreuse on the Loose’ Catmint is a striking ornamental perennial that combines vibrant chartreuse-yellow foliage with masses of lavender-blue flowers for a stunning season-long display. This unique Nepeta variety forms a tidy, mounding habit of brightly colored leaves that illuminate garden beds and borders from spring through fall. Beginning in late spring, spikes of soft lavender-blue blooms rise above the foliage, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. Planting Instructions (From a 3.5" Pot into the Ground)

    1. Choose the Location

    • Select a sunny location with well-drained soil.
    • Ideal for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, edging, and containers.

    2. Prepare the Soil

    • Loosen soil 8–10 inches deep.
    • Add compost if needed, though Catmint adapts well to average garden soils.

    3. Dig the Hole

    • Dig a hole twice as wide as the 3.5" pot and equal depth.

    4. Remove from Pot

    • Carefully remove the plant and gently loosen any circling roots.

    5. Plant

    • Position the root ball level with the surrounding soil surface.
    • Backfill with soil and firm gently around the roots.

    6. Water Thoroughly

    • Water deeply after planting.
    • Keep soil moderately moist during the establishment period.

    7. Mulch

    • Apply a light layer of mulch around the plant to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

    8. Spacing

    • Space plants 18–24 inches apart to allow for mature growth and airflow.

    Seasonal Care & Maintenance

    • Shear lightly after the first flush of blooms to encourage reblooming.
    • Water occasionally during prolonged drought periods.
    • Cut plants back in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.
    • Divide mature clumps every few years if desired to maintain vigor.

‘Chartreuse on the Loose’ Catmint offers a unique combination of bright chartreuse foliage and soft lavender-blue flowers, creating eye-catching contrast throughout the growing season. Its long bloom period, pollinator-friendly nature, drought tolerance, and low-maintenance habit make it a standout addition to sunny perennial gardens and landscape borders.
