      • Dig a hole wide enough to spread roots and deep enough to plant eyes (buds) 1–2 inches below the soil surface

      • Position the root so buds face upward, backfill with soil, and water deeply

      • Space plants 3 feet apart to allow for mature growth

      • Water regularly during the first growing season; mulch lightly to conserve moisture

      • Avoid heavy mulch directly over the crown and do not overwater

      • Peonies may take 1–2 years to fully bloom, but reward with decades of beauty

The Shirley Temple Peony is a long-lived, low-maintenance perennial that delivers romantic blooms, graceful form, and reliable performance season after season.

***We recommend that you wait 7 to 10 days from the date of receipt before repotting your plants, to allow them to recover from the shock of shipping***

Exercise caution and use your best judgment before ordering during unusually hot or cold weather (below 32 degrees F, or in excess of 95F for shipping purposes), as these extremes may leave your plant vulnerable to damage. The optimal time for planting for most of our material is in mid to late spring, past the danger of hard frost. Please refer to our preferred shipping and planting guide for your area below.

Sometimes these plants are small, like the pictures. Sometimes they will be larger, depending on crop rotation. No plants are shipped from our farm until fully rooted.
