Bee Balm ‘Bee Free’ (Monarda ‘Bee Free’) is a compact, free-flowering perennial that adds bold summer color and pollinator appeal to the garden. Its vibrant, raspberry-red blooms form shaggy, rounded clusters above aromatic, dark green foliage, creating a lively display from mid to late summer. Unlike many taller bee balm varieties, Bee Free has a naturally compact, bushy habit, making it perfect for borders, small gardens, and containers. With its mildew resistance, extended bloom time, and ability to attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, this variety is both showy and low-maintenance.

Planting Instructions (from a 3.5" pot into the ground):

    1. Timing: Plant in spring after frost danger has passed or in early fall while the soil is still warm.

    2. Location: Choose a site with full sun and rich, well-drained soil.

    3. Preparation: Dig a hole twice the width of the pot and equal in depth.

    4. Planting: Remove the plant from its pot, gently loosen roots, and place in the hole so the crown is level with the soil surface.

    5. Backfill: Refill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.

    6. Spacing: Space plants about 12–15 inches apart to allow air circulation and healthy growth.

    7. Aftercare: Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist. Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Deadhead spent flowers to extend bloom time. Cut back stems to the ground in late fall or early spring.
