Planting Instructions (From a 3.5" Pot into a Pot)
1. Select a Container
- Choose a container 2–4 inches larger than the current 3.5" nursery pot.
- Ensure the container has adequate drainage holes.
2. Prepare the Potting Mix
- Use a rich, well-draining potting mix.
- A blend containing peat moss, coco coir, bark, and perlite works well.
3. Fill the Container
- Add enough potting mix so the crown of the fern will sit at the same depth it was growing previously.
4. Remove the Plant
- Carefully slide the fern from its nursery pot.
- Gently loosen any circling roots.
5. Plant
- Place the root ball in the center of the new container.
- Fill around the roots with fresh potting mix and gently firm the soil.
6. Water Thoroughly
- Water deeply until excess moisture drains from the bottom.
- Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
7. Placement
- Place in bright indirect light indoors or a shaded patio, porch, or garden location outdoors.
- Avoid direct afternoon sunlight that can scorch the fronds.
Container Care & Maintenance
- Water regularly, especially during warm weather.
- Increase humidity by misting or placing near a humidifier if grown indoors.
- Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant or fern fertilizer.
- Remove yellowing or damaged fronds as needed.
- Repot every 2–3 years when roots become crowded.
