Overwintering ‘Super Gold’ Tuberose
Tuberose bulbs are not frost hardy and require winter protection in colder climates.
In-Ground (Zones 8–11)
- Allow foliage to die back naturally after blooming.
- Reduce watering during dormancy.
- Apply a light mulch layer in cooler parts of Zone 8.
In Zones 3–7 (Lift and Store Bulbs)
- After First Frost: Foliage will yellow and die back.
- Dig Bulbs: Carefully lift bulbs from soil.
- Dry Bulbs: Let bulbs dry in a warm, ventilated space for several days.
-
Store:
- Place bulbs in peat moss, sawdust, or vermiculite
- Store in a cool, dry location (50–60°F)
- Inspect Occasionally: Remove any soft or rotting bulbs.
‘Super Gold’ Tuberose offers the best of both worlds—bold, variegated foliage and intensely fragrant blooms. With proper care and winter storage, it will provide stunning visual and sensory appeal year after year.
