    • Color: Semi-double blooms of white petals streaked with pink and rose-red; glossy dark green evergreen foliage.

    • Fragrance: Very light to none.

    • Wildlife & Pest Resistance: Attracts pollinators; generally resistant to deer and rabbits.

    • Planting Zone: Hardy in USDA zones 6–9 (more cold-hardy than many other camellias).

    • Sun Preferences: Partial shade is best; morning sun with afternoon shade ideal. Protect from hot afternoon sun and harsh winds.

    • Drought Tolerance: Moderate; prefers consistent moisture but well-drained soil.

    • Height/Spread: Reaches 6–8 feet tall and 4–6 feet wide at maturity.

Planting Instructions (from a 3.5" pot into the ground):

    1. Timing: Plant in spring or fall when weather is cool and mild.

    2. Location: Choose a site with dappled light or morning sun and afternoon shade. Acidic, humus-rich, well-draining soil is ideal.

    3. Preparation: Dig a hole twice as wide and slightly shallower than the pot. Camellias prefer to sit slightly high rather than too deep.

    4. Planting: Remove the plant from its pot, gently loosen roots, and place in the hole so the crown sits just above soil level.

    5. Backfill: Fill with amended soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.

    6. Spacing: Plant 4–6 feet apart if grouping.

    7. Aftercare: Mulch with pine bark or needles to retain moisture and maintain soil acidity, keeping mulch away from the trunk. Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first year. Prune lightly after blooming to shape if needed.

🌸 April Dawn Camellia offers year-round beauty with its evergreen leaves and spectacular spring blooms, making it a reliable and elegant choice for landscapes in cooler regions where many camellias struggle.
