Tricolor Perfecta is one of the most exciting Camellia on the market today. A true garden jewel, its unique, large 4 to 5″ diameter double flowers display beautiful shades of white, red and pink flowers with petals splashed with streaks of carmine red surrounding bright yellow stamens at the center. A heavy bloomer, this intriguing beauty blooms late winter to early spring and will not go unnoticed in your garden!

    Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 8 to 10 feet tall and 5-8 feet wide depending on pruning, Tricolor Perfecta Camellia can be grown as a large shrub or small tree. As a shrub, it is ideal for use as a hedge or background plant, in groupings, and is especially nice as espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall.) When “limbed up” to form a small tree it serves well as an attractive and colorful specimen in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. Great for cottage gardens, cut flower gardens, to frame corners, as a single specimen shrub or tree, screen or windbreak plantings, home foundations, in woodland gardens, and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors overwinter for those who live above USDA Zone 7a, where not winter hardy.

Suggested Spacing: 5 feet apart for solid hedge; 10 feet or more for space between plants

Planting Instructions (from a 3.5" Pot)

    1. Site Selection: Choose a location with well-drained, acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5) and protection from strong winds and intense sunlight.
    2. Prepare the Soil: Amend soil with organic matter like compost or peat moss for improved drainage and acidity.
    3. Planting Depth: Dig a hole twice as wide and slightly deeper than the root ball. Position the plant so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.
    4. Backfill: Gently backfill the hole, pressing lightly to remove air pockets. Avoid burying the stem.
    5. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and maintain consistent moisture, especially during the first growing season.
    6. Mulching: Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the stem to retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
    7. Spacing: Space plants 6–8 feet apart for optimal growth and airflow.

With proper care, Camellia Japonica will reward you with timeless beauty and lush foliage for years to come.
