Bareroot Planting Instructions (Into the Ground)
1. Unpack & Hydrate
- Unpack bareroots immediately upon arrival.
- Soak roots in cool water for 1–2 hours before planting.
2. Choose the Location
- Select a shaded or partially shaded area.
- Ideal beneath trees, woodland gardens, and shaded borders.
3. Prepare the Soil
- Loosen soil 10–12 inches deep.
- Mix in compost or organic matter to improve fertility and drainage.
4. Dig the Hole
- Dig a hole wide enough to comfortably spread the roots.
5. Plant the Bareroot
- Position the crown just at or slightly below soil level.
- Spread roots outward naturally.
- Backfill gently and firm soil lightly around roots.
6. Water Thoroughly
- Water deeply after planting to settle soil around the roots.
- Keep soil evenly moist during establishment.
7. Mulch
- Apply a light layer of mulch to conserve moisture and regulate soil temperature.
8. Spacing
- Space plants 18–24 inches apart for mature growth and airflow.
