Growing Guide: Transplanting from a Gallon Pot into the Ground

1. Timing: The best time to transplant Stevie’s Wonder Agapanthus from a gallon pot into the ground is during the early spring, after the last frost has passed. This allows the plant to establish its root system before the peak summer heat.

2. Site Selection: Choose a well-draining location that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily. Agapanthus plants prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil, with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.

3. Soil Preparation: Prepare the planting area by loosening the soil to a depth of 12 to 15 inches and mixing in organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure. This enhances soil fertility and improves drainage, ensuring optimal growth.

4. Transplanting: Carefully remove the Stevie’s Wonder Agapanthus plant from its gallon pot, gently teasing out the roots if they are root-bound. Dig a hole in the prepared soil that is slightly larger than the root ball of the plant. Place the Agapanthus in the hole at the same depth as it was in the pot, making sure the crown is level with the soil surface.
